Printing

Printing

Printed marker bands and graduations let the clinician read insertion depth and device position under fluoroscopy or direct vision. On a catheter the print has to survive handling, sterilisation and the patient environment without smearing or lifting, which makes ink selection and surface preparation as important as the printing itself.

What we print

  • Marker bands and depth graduations along the shaft
  • Batch codes, model numbers and orientation marks
  • Single or multi-colour identification rings

Process notes

  • Surface treatment before printing so the ink keys into low-surface-energy materials such as Pebax, PA and PTFE-lined shafts
  • High-bond inks selected against the substrate rather than a single default
  • Band width, spacing and start position set from your drawing

Typically combined with

Extrusion or composite tubing, followed by tipping and forming — printing is normally done before the tip is formed so the band positions stay true to the finished length.
